My name is Vin, born in February 1986 and live/grew up in a small village next to the City of Limburg right in the middle of Germany. I grew up in a very creative environment, my grandfather painted a lot during his life and my dad’s passion is chainsaw wood carving. There is always some creativity around. So i drew a lot with my dad when i was a kid, mainly on the floor with tons of paper in front of us.
As i got older, during Highschool (i think it was sparked by videogames), 3D modeling and animation caught my attention. Spending hours and hours in front of my computer, trying to model and render everything around me gave me a good basic understanding of shapes, perspective and lighting.
In 2004 after Highschool, i spend half a year as an foreign exchange student in Bedford, Virginia. There was one specific moment i remember, that kind of set the course for my future. During the stay in Virginia we went on a vacation to Florida. We were having an evening walk an i took some pictures of my friends with my old digital camera! One of them looked a picture and said: “You should be a photographer!” So this sentence really stuck in my mind…
The same year back in Germany, i started an internship, followed by an apprenticeship at the famous german automotive photographer Michel de Vries. During these years and in the following years i learned so much about what a great composition is, how light affects form, how perspective works and how colors emphasize a certain mood.We retouched a lot on Wacom graphic tablets, so i got used to it very fast. Every now and then i began to paint in photoshop after work and i loved it right away. It is so fast and forgiving, you can paint on layers, you can erase, you can transform and scale, its just so much fun!
After a while i started painting on iPad Pro with the App Procreate. So i am not tied up to my Computer, but I can take it with me wherever i go and its fantastic!
My style right now in this “2055” series i would call very clean, calm, with saturated colors! It’s all about hope, friendship, it’s about a new start, a departure to new worlds! The girl and her furry friend explore unique environments on a journey through space!Everything is influenced by my fascination about science fiction and space traveling.
